Connected Biker — building a home for motorcycle culture online

Motogen.pl started as a simple idea: give Polish motorcycle riders a place that feels like theirs, not a generic news feed.

Over time, it grew into a whole ecosystem for petrolheads, with daily news, long-form features, tests, and opinion pieces, plus forums, galleries, comments, and a very active community.

Lead UI/UX Designer, Editor-in-Chief
As Lead UI/UX Designer and Editor-in-Chief, I treated the site as a product, not just a publication. I designed a layout system with a dozen reusable templates that could handle everything from quick news updates to deep technical reviews and photo-heavy trip reports. The goal was to keep the experience coherent, fast, and readable, even as content formats and editorial ideas evolved.

Final thoughts and impact

From a product perspective, Motogen was a connected hub: desktop first at the time, but optimised for regular visitors who checked the site multiple times a day, talked to each other in comments, and used forums as a permanent knowledge base. On the editorial side, I worked with writers, photographers, and partners to shape the brand's voice and maintain a balance between commercial content and authentic community stories.

Looking back, this was my first real laboratory for thinking in systems, not just pages. It taught me how to run a product with real users, real revenue, and minimal resources, how to design for repeat engagement, and how to make a digital space feel like a home for a specific community. Those lessons still sit underneath the way I design platforms and tools today.
